Scotland: Illustrators Day

Date and Time: 4 February 2006, 10am to 4pm

Description: Guest speaker Louise Power (formerly of Art Department Manager of Walker Books) discusses how to approach publishers with your work, what publishers are looking for. Presentations by guest illustrators Ross Collins (The Three Grumpies, Jack and the DreamSack) and Patrick Benson (Christopher Mouse, Mole and the Baby Bird) – how they work, the publisher's input, knowing your audience, developing different styles and working to a brief. Also featured is Keith Robson who has written and illustrated comic books such as Buster and Beano, school textbooks, as well as worked as illustrator and model-maker in pre-school and educational TV. There will be portfolio critiques with Louise Power – bring three works-in-progress and one finished work.
