Louise Power (formerly of Art Department Manager of Walker Books) discusses how to approach publishers with your work, what publishers are looking for. Presentations by guest illustrators
Ross Collins (
The Three Grumpies,
Jack and the DreamSack) and
Patrick Benson (
Christopher Mouse,
Mole and the Baby Bird) – how they work, the publisher's input, knowing your audience, developing different styles and working to a brief. Also featured is
Keith Robson who has written and illustrated comic books such as
Buster and
Beano, school textbooks, as well as worked as illustrator and model-maker in pre-school and educational TV. There will be
portfolio critiques with Louise Power – bring three works-in-progress and one finished work.
