Professional Series: Evening with an Editor

Date and Time: 6 July 2006, 7-9pm

Description: Mara Bergman , senior commissioning editor at Walker Books, will provide insight and discuss her experience in children's book publishing. She currently edits teenage/YA fiction and woks with many authors here, in the US and Australia, including Ann Turnbull ( No Shame, No Fear , shortlisted for the 2004 Whitbread Children's Book Award), Veronica Bennett ( Angel monster , 2005, based on the life of Mary Shelley), Sonya Harnett ( Thursday's Child , winner of the 2002 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize) and Carolyn Mackler ( The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things , a Printz Honor Book in the US). Mara is also the author of several picture books and fiction titles for young readers.
