Date and Time: 17 March 2007, 10.15 for 10.30 until 12.30 and after

Description: Canterbury. A workshop with John Singleton. John will first talk about the writing of his teenage book Angel Blood, and about how to turn first ideas and small beginnings into publishable children' fiction. The workshop session will be about beginnings. It will look at examples of openings from contemporary children's novels and in a short writing task show how you can get a good read going.

John's books include Macmillan's bestselling ‘Creative Writing Handbook' and the acclaimed Puffin novels ‘Angel Blood,' ‘Skinny B, Skaz and Me' and ‘Star'.

Venue: UCCA, Dover Road, Canterbury. The college has free parking and is within easy walking distance of both train stations and  the bus station. The workshop will be followed by a buffet lunch provided by the college, and attendees are welcome to stay on and join the creative art college's afternoon Spring Seminar free of charge (details tba by college).
